Race To Quit

In general, quitting is mostly perceived as a weakness – especially by those who are inspired by success stories. In this note, I´d like to present a theory that it´s not always the case, and probably press on the idea that – life´s approach should be dealt with lots of giving up in order to gain more.

Our nation has so much trouble with freedom fighters down south from the past up to the recent times which even elevated into a worst situation – spreading out its operation Philippine-wide. Bombings have killed innocent people ever since the drive for freedom was launched for autonomous independence. The leftists who are not necessarily connected to the religious insurgents also equate hostility as they terrorize the public as their expression of protest and ideology. What about the human rights of the common people who merely want to live a normal life and try to survive the adversities of economic downturn whom have been victims of the non-sense killings?

It has been from the past, the former and the present administrations that these various groups of confident critics have never vanished. Their criticism over the government causes heat – boasting up the confidence of the dolt communist heads to revolt. When it is their race to achieve equality, it should be a perfect time to quit. Any religious moral doctrines do not encourage and justify killings as a resort to achieve equality and peace. Quit being ignorant fellow citizens.

The misfortune of the couple police officers who were killed in an ambush recently up north has called for vigilance in cracking down these communist groups as the national police leadership articulates. How to achieve this effort when it is a massive business in reality – involving the peacekeepers as trade partners – the simplest reason why criminals have better artillery and ammunitions than the pursuing officers because of the money behind it? Quit being selfish before your own family catches the karma´s payback. It is sad that realizations only come usually after real hard-knocks.

Not so far away, there is a community of the busiest people who never create a time to chill and slow down to look back and check the morality value of their endeavors. When I think of the individuals who are involved in aggression and hostility – they usually are the busy lads who always try to catch up with something. When someone or something blocks their way (even not deliberately), it will be a mess up, big trouble – prompting to pull a trigger and… bang! This is common in road raps.

Look at the shoe-repair-guy in the opposite side of the story; he is one of the most peaceful folks I believe. When he changes pace to speed up abruptly, that´s when the quality of his work deteriorates – causing to lose customers. So he takes it slow to keep himself in the right tract.

For less stress and faulty decisions, quit accelerating. But not too slow either. Household tranquility mostly tends many people to become indolent and less productive. It should be a balance distribution of time.

By the word, quitting in general is an act to retract from the course of what have been initiated for a goal to succeed. This sense instantly directs basic examples – one as compared to pulling back from any race. Someone who decides to draw back is regarded as a loser if not a quitter. It is a perception that I am not afraid anymore though – intrepid when looking at a better choice has been the force. In reality, it takes twice of courage to quit than not because spectators constantly anticipate continuity once something has kicked off – it instantly obliged the person to never give up. As time becomes wiser (in my perspective), quitting is not a case of weakness anymore but strength to define a new persona.

There was once a competitive guy who is known to push limits and fairly succeed as a runner. It was an admirable fellow idolized by many aspirers. As the expectation soars higher, the pressure boils hotter –which most spectators usually don´t realize. The racetrack hero feels that he is compelled to prove his worth for the sake of these people depriving his own self to the extent of risking health concerns. To cut it short, the story ends at a funeral. When he was given honor, his followers have high regards for him as the biggest symbol of being NOT A QUITTER. What a fellow!
Sadly, I can´t be like him. I can quit races in no second thought at anytime, but…cannot quit life.

WALKING THE IGBARAS CIRCUIT FOR 3-DAYS + 1

By Gil delos Santos IGBARAS is a third class municipality in the South-western part of Iloilo province known to be one of the hiker's favorite destinations as they are blessed with waterfalls, caves, climbing rocks, beautiful mountain ridges which the popular Mount Napulak belongs to, and locals with notable genuine hospitality. We initiated the hike from Barangay Igcabugao which we had to pass through a community of mountain residents as we ascend to our first Mountain, Napulak. I had absorbed a good load of happy innocent vibe connecting to the children before starting the proper mountain journey. These kids have physically grown from the time I last saw them in my previous visits. At the same time, the reconnection naturally streamed down and effortlessly grown too. That's a good "pabaon" - their innocent smiles and timid but genuine thank you for the little present I have for them. Getting to Mount Napulak once again is a mix of happy and little concer...

Be free

Be free Self-betrayal is imprisoning ourself in the cells of envy believing that we are hell special to deserve the world's importance by seeking validation from recruited flying monkeys than be accountable to our misery brought by wrong decisions.  Be our own source of happiness. No one's responsible for it but ourselves. Give no scapegoats. No one is perfect but we can be perfect with intentions to let go and let be with no ssshht. Public proud appearances could  be a reverse happy projection by a sad inner self. Seeking validation is an abyss for an unreachable self discontent. Be truthful with our own truth and give no blame to others for our own missed target.  Rest restless souls. Don't let our silence speak misery. Hope we find peace in our quiet solace.

Local's Perspective on The Proposed Boracay Bridge

By: Gil delos Santos WHAT HOPE IS LEFT FOR BORACAY? Boracay is its people. Boracay is its community. Boracay is its natural treasures. It's dark how the future of sustainability and community for Boracay look like. Let's be part of the light for hope.  THEN As a kid born and raised in Manocmanoc, the Manocmanoc Beach was our everyday playground. Great memories! The sense of ownership that we have for our playgrounds gives us the privilege of entitlement that we feel it is our home. It was a pride each time to warmly welcome visitors to share our space with them. NOW We feel strangers to our old playgrounds. We cannot access them anymore 40 years later. We have not imagined that it wasn't owned by the community. The provincial government installed a cargo port in the Western side of Manocmanoc Beach preventing the natural sand movements and we lost the sandbar that is being formed every habagat season — which we used to call "Recudo". Recudo is gone forever!!  We a...
