"Thank you bro.. well said, a display of artistic expressions of Aklanons... enhancing the culture and arts is a priority program of the provincial government of Aklan, by then, we hope to preserve and promote the traditions and culture through Tumandok it Akean Performing Arts."
Applause and congratulations to ACAFI (Aklan Culture & Arts Foundation, Inc.) for a spectacular show last night, Dec 19, 2019 which showcases the Aklan traditional and festival dances that marks Ati-atihan as the mother of all festivals in the Philippines.
A new story has been told as well as the show's highlight in the form of dance drama - its newest entry to the performing arts stage called "The Legend of Aklan" written by Leopoldo Dela Cruz that tells a story of the "Aklanon God and The Mythical Deer" which traces the legend story from the furthest Barangay of Libacao in Dalagsaan. The performance was intensely delivered by over 30 scholars called the Tumandok it Aklan Performing Arts.
The initiative is well supported and funded by the office of the governor. Honorable Joeben Miraflores and his Vice Governor, Mr. Quimpo are present during the event and said it will become an annual event now to showcase Aklan's cultural heritage as they admit to have focused on infrastructure in the past couple of years during their term.
This move could be a good tourism potential outside Boracay as they say because Aklan is rich with tradition and culture that can stir interest to the evolving travelers' mind who are now investing more on the experience rather than the fancy resort structures.
